Vijayawada: Minister for Endowments Pydikondala Manikyala Rao explained the significance cow-based natural farming to make agriculture viable.

He addressed a meeting at Siddhartha College in the city which was held under the aegis of Goo Aadharitha Prakruthi Vyavasayadarula Paraspara Sahaya Sahakara Sangam Limited.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that if the farmers will start cow-based natural farming in the state, there will be no suicides. He further stated that there is a need for cow-based natural farming as it is profitable to the farmers. He said that steps would be taken up by the government to make agriculture viable. He said that demand for organic food is increasing.

Association president BH Ramakrishnam Raju sought cooperation of the Central and State governments to encourage cow-based natural farming. He said there is a need to encourage this system to stop farmers’ suicides in the state. He urged the government to give 75 per cent subsidy to farmers to purchase cows. The meeting passed a resolution to this effect. He explained significance of cow milk and stressed the need to increase cow milk production in the state and demanded that the government set up a committee with agriculture scientists, farmers and intellectuals to give suggestions to the government to encourage cow-based natural farming.Association vice-president Y Venkateswara Rao, treasurer Vallabhaneni Asha Kiran were present.
