Noted musician in Veena instrument Pudukottai R Krishna Murthy (PRKM) has achieved prestigious Telugu Book of Records lifetime achievement award.

Tirupati: Noted musician in Veena instrument Pudukottai R Krishna Murthy (PRKM) has achieved prestigious Telugu Book of Records lifetime achievement award. Telugu Book Of Records presented this award to him at a function in Annama Charya Karlamandhir in Tirupati. PRKM was born in Tamil Nadu and in playing of Veena he had been learned techniques from Pudukottai S Srinivasan at the age of 9 years.

Krishna Murthy had showed his talent in first Veena concert at the age of 15 years in 1954. Later he completed his B Music degree from Annamalai University in 1959 and came to Tirupati and joined as music lecturer and served 36 years in TTD SV Music College as lecturer and Principal too. His wife Padma also renowned Veena musician.

PRKM produced the art of playing veena DVD for learners, at the same time he brought out the Krishna Veena, Ramabhakti Sam Rajyam, Thaygaraya Pancharathnam and Annmacharya Sankeerthana veena audio CDs for devotional musical lovers.

In the early 1990, Krishna Murthy had performed his musical concerts in Spain, Canada, the USA and other countries and also showcased his talent in playing of Veena across the country in Tirumala Srivari Brahmotsavam, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. In Spain along with his wife he performed Veena in international prestigious Granada Music festival. PRKM had given Veena concert in prestigious Chennai Madras Academy also. He was recognised as A Top grade Venna player by the All India Radio.

Meanwhile Murthy received many awards, titles like “Vainika Panchananna, Nadha Chintamani, Vinika Sarva Bowma and Laya Praveena. On the occasion of receiving the lifetime achievement award from Telugu Book of Records Musician Krishnamurthy said “Music is an ocean, god blessed me to serve the almighty through performing the devotional Kirthnas of Srivenkateswara, Rama, Krishna and other gods. He thanked the Sunadavani Cultural Academy and music lovers for felicitating him.
