Kakinada: Additional Superintendent of Police AR Damodar conducted an Open House ceremony, commemorating the martyrs of police department.

Speaking on the occasion, Damodar explained that every year, October 21 is observed as Police Commemoration Day because it was on this day in 1959 that our soldiers were martyred in a war with China.

To commemorate the martyred soldiers, the entire nation celebrates the commemoration week from October 15 to October 21, he said. Damodar informed they have organised “Swachh Bharat” programmes in 10 hostels in the district. An Officer on Special Duty Ravi Shankar Reddy informed that 17 police personnel died in encounters in East Godavari this year.

Police officials displayed all types of weapons, wireless sets and explained about dog squads. The clues teams explained about mechanism of finger prints identification and they also demonstrated the functioning of a drone to all the enthusiastic school children.
