Srikakulam: Advocates belonging to Backward classes have to fight for their rights collectively, suggested AP State Backward Classes’ Advocates’ Association (APBCAA) State Chairman Pallapu Krishna.

Participating as chief guest in APBCAA district meeting held at Animal Husbandry Meeting Hall here on Sunday, he said out of total advocates more than 50 per cent were belonging to BC communities. But due to lack of unity and collectiveness, the advocates were losing their opportunities and rights regarding their practice and relating to cases in which they were appearing as advocates on behalf of their clients.

Association general secretary A Gopala Krishna, vice chairman, Sanapala Narasimha Swamy, state chairman for disciplinary committee M Srinivas explained need of collective fight to achieve house sites, health cards for advocates on par with others.

On the occasion, APBCAA Srikakulam district body was elected in presence of state committee and all BC advocates across the district. The association elected GS Krishna Prasad as president, Ch Lakshmana Rao as general secretary, A Umamaheswar Rao, RV Kumar and Purusottam Yadav as vice presidents, S Darmarao, V Appalanaidu and V Ramanamurthy as secretaries. Senior advocates PV Ramana Rao, V Krishna Chand, G Krishna Rao and K Annam Naidu stressed the need for enhancement of advocate fee rules.
