Mahabubnagar: Two young girls from Narayanapeta mandal of Mahabubnagar district, Bhargavi Kalayani and Jahnavi Kalyani, have emerged as budding writers, with ‘Twin-Twinkles’, their recently published anthology, making waves.

Although their individual/ common Muse is not clear, the sisters seem to be deriving their sparks of inspiration and motivation from everyday happenings and myriad things, places and people.

They have penned their intense feelings and emotional interpretations of various concepts and subjects like rain, mother, sister, brother, India, time, tree, school bus, Abdul Kalam etc., to form a beautiful collection of poems.

The sisters’ tryst with poetic endeavours began when they were in Class VI. While talking to this correspondent, both Jahnavi and Bhargavi conceded that they did not know structurally what a poem is and how it is written.

Still, they have cultivated deep interest in writing down whatever comes to their mind. They write on ordinary themes with empathy and have penned extraordinary lines that encapsulate the sweetness of the conception in an engaging style.

Enthusiastically sharing their journey, the girls said: “We were inspired by our father to read the newspaper right from the time when we were in third standard. Initially, we could not understand much, but some of the features like cartoons, paintings of school children, comic characters and small poems in Young Hans written by school students of our age attracted our attention and it gave us the inspiration.”

Kumari Jahnavi has published 14 poems in The Hans India and other magazine, while Kumari Bhargavi has published 10 poems in different websites, magazines and newspapers.

Narasimha Rao, father of the girls, said: “Right from the beginning, my daughters have been inspired by reading the newspaper. They used to share their thoughts and ideas about different things. I only encouraged them to pen down their thoughts and they did it beautifully. Both the girls have published more than 24 poems and have recently got them published in the form of a book.”

Interestingly, both the girls take part in extracurricular activities as well. They have bagged many medals and awards in essay-writing competition, elocution and other academic events. Presently Intermediate students, the girls are curious to pursue engineering. Their goal is to become defence scientists and serve the nation.
