Tirupati: To protect the environs in hill town, TTD, with the assistance of AP Energy Department and Government of India will soon operate 60 battery vehicles to transport pilgrims, informed TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal.

The EO along with Tirupati JEO P Bhaskar took part in the Ayudha Puja performed in the Transport workshop at Tirupati on Sunday. Speaking on this occasion the EO said TTD commenced with just two vehicles in 1948, today it has over 300 vehicles. Tens and thousands of pilgrims are transported to Tirumala with safety and security in APSRTC buses which have been rendering services since 1975.

He appreciated the zero-accident record by TTD drivers on the ghat roads under the stewardship of GM Sesha Reddy. Now, a dozen free buses were in operation at Tirumala to transport pilgrims and three in Tirupati to transport pilgrims to Alipiri and Srivarimettu footpath routes.

Apart from this, two auto clinic vehicles, four luggage vehicles are also doing tremendous services, he informed. Earlier special Puja was performed to Dharma rathams in Transport wing. AEO Krishnamurty Reddy, AMF Lakshmiprasanna, DI Ramesh, other staff and drivers were also present.
