Producing the accused before media at Operation Command Control Room here on Monday, city police joint commissioner B Ramana Kumar said the accused had committed 48 thefts and robbed gold worth lakh of rupees. The booty recovered from them is valued at Rs.65 lakh .

According to police, Sannaila Venkatesh alias Bakkodu of Bhimavaram town of West Godavari district had robbed 600 gram gold articles worth Rs18 lakh in Vijayawada and other parts of the state. He joined as a car driver to a business man Muppavarapu Harinath Kumar in Penamaluru nine months ago in Vijayawada and robbed valuables from the owner’s house using duplicate keys.

Another accused Konda Santosh hails from Gangavaram village of Visakhapatnam district. The police arrested Santosh and recovered 604 gram gold articles, 1 kg silver and Rs20,000 cash. The joint commissioner said the accused was involved in house breaking offences in Krishna, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and other districts in the last few years.

He was nabbed in I Town police station limits in Vijayawada and gold and silver articles worth Rs.18.72 lakh were seized from him. In another case, II Town police arrested Nallamotu Suresh in Vijayawada in connection with house breaking incident in Krishna, Kadapa, Guntur, Chittoor, Vizag and other districts and recovered 189 gram gold articles, 325 gramsilver articles valued at Rs6 lakh.

Naveen Gurumurthy Joshi of Dharwad of Karnataka had robbed 200 gram gold articles worth Rs6 lakh. He committed three offences in Vijayawada police commissionerate limits during the last few months. In another case, Governorpet police arrested three-members gang and seized 300 grams gold articles, 1289 grams silver articles valued at Rs10 lakh.

Chillara Suresh alias Challa Suresh of Gorantla village near Guntur, P Kiran Babu alias Kiran of AT Agraharam, Guntur, and Nallagorla Koteswara Rao alias Kotaiah were arrested by city police when they were moving in suspicious manner in Governorpet. During the questioning, they confessed to the offences of house breaking in Krishna and Guntur districts.

Finally, the city police arrested a three-member gang of Maddala James alias Rambo, Abdul Azeez alias Baji and Yandrapalli Nagendra Babu alias Babu of Vijayawada. The trio was involved in five house breaking cases under the police station limits of Vuyyur, Kothapeta, Kankipadu and Penamaluru.
