Mayor promises temple tank beautification

Nellore: City Mayor Sk Abdul Aziz said that they would bring glory to tank of Mulasthaneswara Temple at Mulapet here. Abdul Aziz along with Nellore Municipal Corporation authorities visited the temple and inspected the tank here on Monday.

The Mayor directed the civic body authorities to give facelift to the Koneru. Speaking to the media, Aziz said that Koneru and its surrounding areas are now in unhygienic condition to perform Teppotsavam. Top priority has been given to remove garbage from the tank, said Abdul Aziz.

Measures would be taken to add bleaching to the water in the tank and also will arrange lighting in the surroundings permanently, he said. Development works have been started in the temple aiming at providing basic amenities to the devotees, who visit the temple during ‘Karthika’ month, he added. He also said that they would develop the tank as a holy place.

Corporation authorities have prepared estimates with Rs 2.5 crore to develop tank and also for other works. We would verify the estimates and take a final decision on them,’ said Abdul Aziz. Corporators G Nagaraju, N Mallikarjuna Yadav, M Penchala Naidu, GGH development committee chairman Ch Narasimha Rao and others were present.
