Anantapur: Anantapur Range DIG J Prabhakar Rao, District Superintendent of Police (SP) GVG Ashok Kumar and policemen cutting across their ranks donated blood on Tuesday as part of the Police Martyrs’ Commemoration Week celebrations. In all, 500 police personnel including police staff, armed reserve police staff, special party, home guards, PTC, DTC trainees, students of CRIT and others donated blood.

Annually, October 21 is observed as Police Martyrs’ Day to commemorate supreme sacrifice made by our police in Ladakh region in 1959. The DIG explained the significance of the blood donation.

Police Training College Principal Venkatram Reddy, Additional SP K Malyadri, DSPs J Venkat Rao, Chinni Krishna, Srinivasa Reddy, CRIT Chairman Chiranjeevi Reddy, Police Officers’ Association president Sake Triloknath, police medical officer Venkateswara Prasad, Red Cross district president Ramakrishna, RDT medical officer Chaitanya and others participated.
