Visakhapatnam: The PM Palem police on Tuesday arrested Padala Venkateswara Rao, a retired district registrar, and retired sub-registrar PVNS Satyanarayana Rao for registering a fabricated unregistered sale deed pertaining to 24.42 acres of prime land worth Rs 250 crore in 2010 by accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 crore.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) BVS Nageswara Rao said real-estate businessman Chekuri Sudhakar Raju sold the land to M Dasaradha Maha Raju by fabricating the land documents.

Both Padala Venkateswara Rao and Satyanarayana Rao colluded with Sudhakar Raju to fabricate and register the land documents pertaining to 24.42 acres of land behind Visakha Valley School in the city and selling it to Maha Raju for a sum of Rs 4.5 crore.

The police said that the documents were fabricated in such a manner that the land was sold to Sudhakar Raju’s father by the erstwhile Raja of Vizianagaram PVG Raju in 1990.

The land in question is the government land and included in the GO 22A list and the government officials took bribe to register the land without proper verification of the documents. Sources said that Sudhakar Raju was arrested a few weeks ago.
