Minister promises cold storage units in all districts

Amaravati: Minister for Marketing Ch Adinarayana Reddy directed officials to take necessary steps to build cold storages in all districts to prevent wastage of agricultural produce. At a review meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the Minister said proper plan should to be formulated to identify the necessity of cold storages in the districts.

He pointed out that due to lack of cold storage units, formers were selling their produce at cheaper rates during adverse climatic conditions or for other reasons. “The farmers will store their agriculture produce and sell them when they are offered good price if cold storage facility is available in districts. We also prevent wastage of crops by storing them in proper way in cold storages,” he said.

He also directed officials to take measures to improve infrastructure facilities in market yards and arrange new Rythu Bazaars in different districts. He also told them to make necessary arrangements to procure cotton from farmers in the next season. Measures should be taken to control prices of onions and tomatoes.
