Kurnool: A three-year-old Surekha, who was undergoing treatment for viral fever has breathed her last at Government General Hospital here on Friday. According to sources, the girl, a resident of Peddakadabur mandal in Yemmiganur constituency, was admitted in the hospital a week ago as she was suffering from fever.

As her health condition has been deteriorating, the doctors have collected blood samples and sent them for tests and simultaneously, another sample was sent to the Pathology department for detecting dengue symptoms. While the report was awaited from the Pathology department, Surekha died.

The parents of the deceased alleged that the doctors had failed to give medical treatment for dengue fever as the blood report has revealed that there were dengue symptoms though the doctors denied it.

Speaking to The Hans India, Assistant Malaria Officer Sashank Daraiah said that only three cases have been registered as dengue since January. And all the three cases were being treated, he added. Furthermore, Daraiah said that he has no knowledge about the dengue death in the hospital. I can know about dengue deaths only after Pathology department certifies them, he added.
