Vijayawada: Siddartha Government Medical College in Vijayawada is planning to start super specialty courses very soon. According to sources, they have taken steps to start super specialty medical services in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Nephrology, Urology, Gastroenterology, Paediatric Surgery and Emergency medicine. If everything goes will, the college is planning to start the super specialty courses from 2019.

The Medical College has asked the government to allot Professors to start the super specialty services in the hospital and have sent a proposal to the government to this effect. If these super specialty wards are started, the medical college will get eligibility to start the courses. After highlighting the faculty and infrastructure, the college has decided to ask the Medical Council of India to allot these seats. The MCI team will conduct inspection and based on its report, the Central government will sanction the seats..

Similarly, the hospital asked the government to give a MRI scanning machine, for which a team has already visited the hospital and inspected it. ‘After showing the MRI, the hospital, will ask for three or four seats for the Radiology courses in the medical college. The professors will treat the patients and at the same time, they will teach the super specialty courses students in the hospital’ said a source at the institution.

Siddartha Government Medical College Principal Dr. Sashank said “If the GGH starts super specialty medical services, the college will get eligibility to start super specialty courses for the convenience of the students. We will show super specialty medical services and infrastructure and request the MCI to sanction seats in super specialty courses” he added.
