The district administration is planning to adopt Uttara Pradesh mode of cultivation in sugar cane farming.

Vizianagaram: The district administration is planning to adopt Uttara Pradesh mode of cultivation in sugar cane farming.

The farmers in Uttar Pradesh are earning more on sugarcane farming and they are getting around 100 tonnes of cane per hectare but in Andhra Pradesh the yield is not more than 50 to 60 tonnes per hectare.

Even the investment per acre is very less in Uttar Pradesh as the farmers are cultivating intercrop. They are cultivating potatoes, vegetables but here in the state the farmers have no such culture. Now district administration is planning to adopt the Uttara Pradesh formula in Bheemasingi Sugar Factory limits to increase the income of the farmers.

Collector Vivek Yadav, Managing Director of Bhimasingi Sugar Factory D Narayana Rao paid a visit to Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research in Lucknow and observed situation there and came to know that the farmers there are much more advanced than the farmers of Andhra Pradesh. Recovery rate per tonne in Uttar Pradesh is 10.6 per cent whereas the recovery in the state around 9.6 per cent.

Even the utilisation of machinery is 16 in Uttar Pradesh and here it’s only two per cent. Even the investment is also very high in the state and the farmers are minimising their investment by getting some additional income through internal crops.

Collector Vivek Yadav said that the farmers there are earning more and having cheerful lives there but here the farmers are struggling for existence.
“We are planning to implement the Uttar Pradesh mode of cultivation in our district. We will encourage the farmers under Bheemasinghi Sugar Factory to follow the style of Uttar Pradesh farmers and produce some additional grains as a part of internal crop method.”
