Kadapa: Senior Congress leader and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) vice-president N Tulasi Reddy alleged that the TDP has totally failed either in providing jobs to the unemployed youth or monthly financial assistance to them as per its election manifesto.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, he pointed out that there are 2 lakh vacancies in various government departments. Thousands of people who were working under contract system and outsourcing system have to be regularised.

He regretted that no steps were taken for the revival of Mannavaram Project in Chittoor district and sugar factory in Kadapa district. He alleged that self-employment schemes like Rajiv Yuvakiranalu, Adarsa Rythu and Arogya Mitra etc concepts which were meant to providing self-employment to the unemployed youth were almost winded up.

He said the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) turned beneficial to contractors instead of agriculture labourers. “Though the TDP government has completed 40 months rule, it has failed to address the problems of the unemployed youth,” he said. Instead, the Chief Minister was wasting public money going on tours abroad in the name of attending industrial summits, Tulasi Reddy charged.

The Chief Minister has achieved only one thing that is providing political employment to his son Nara Lokesh, he said. The PCC vice-president demanded that the government immediately provide allowance for unemployed youth and fill the 2 lakh vacant jobs.
