Eluru: Central Water Commission (CWC) Experts Committee Chairman Majid Hussain said that soon a report will be submitted to the Centre on the progress of works of Polavaram National Irrigation Project. A 9-member team headed by Majid Hussain visited Polavaram Project site on Monday and inspected the ongoing works.

Water Resources Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao and Polavaram Project Chief Engineer V S Ramesh Babu explained the progress of works to the Central team. Talking to the media at the project site, Majid said that the team members visited the project site to assess the progress of works.

During last April, the team inspected the works for the first time and this is its second visit to the site. As part of the tour, he said that the team inspected the spillway, concrete works, diaphragm wall and radial gates works. He said that a report would be submitted to the Centre on the committee’s two-time tour details.

He said that the team inspected the works progress and whether the works have been taken up as per action plan by the contracting agencies. He said that their report to the Centre will include the action plan prepared for the future works by the agencies.

He along with team members S K Srivatsav, CKL Das, Govardhan Prasad, Rajasekhar, Hasan Abdullah, Dinesh Bhargav, T K Sivaraja, Rajiv Kumar and Chief Engineer Parameswaran inspected the works.
