Visakhapatnam: Telugu states Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal directed the officers to speed up the process of correcting voters’ electoral list and prepare the draft of voters list before the end of November.

In a meeting with the district officials of Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram at the Circuit Guest House in the city on Monday, CEO Bhanwar Lal reviewed the progress of voters list’ intensive correction drive programme. “Though the draft of voters list should be printed by December 6th, he asked the officials to prepare before a week ahead of the deadline.

The CEO gave a series of directions to the authorities which include polling centres limits should be identified with satellite maps, inerasable marks should be inscribed along with door number on each house, every correction should be uploaded online immediately and make use of the best data entry operators services for the drive.

He insisted that the intensive correction drive should be done online and no manual forms should be used. Praising the pattern executed by Visakhapatnam authorities last year for similar drive, he suggested the officials of all districts to follow the same this year.

“In every polling centre located in Municipal region, 1400 voters should be the upper limit. Whereas in Panchayati limits, only 1200 voters should be allotted for one centre,” he said.

Visakhapatnam District Collector Pravin Kumar informed CEO Bhanwar Lal that some tablets were not distributed to the staff. He requested him to hand over the same at the earliest.

Srikakulam Municipal Commissioner Shoba, AJC Rajni Kanth, Vizianagaram DRO Raj Kumar, Visakhapatnam DRO Chandrasekhar Reddy, Municipal Commissioners of Narsipatnam, yelamanchili, Palasa, Ichhapuram, Rajam, Palakonda, Amudalavalasa, Parvathipuram, Bobbili, Salur and others attended the meeting.
