Tirupati: To give nutritious food to the children at Anganwadi centres, the District Collector PS Pradyumna has asked the SV Medical College (SVMC) professors to formulate a foolproof plan to give training to the Anganwadi workers. Already the task was allotted to Nutrition department of SP Mahila Visvavidyalayam. They have designed a plan and that has to be further studied and finalised by SV Medical College professors, Collector said.

If Anganwadi workers are properly trained they can effectively implement the nutritious food menu to children. Though 98 per cent of children were born healthy, with lack of nutritious food they could not have proper growth, Collector observed. He chaired the SV Medical College Development Society meeting held in the College on Tuesday.

He asked the College management to prepare plans to strengthen the Bio Chemistry, Anatomy and other laboratories in two or three days. Pradyumna visited labs and class rooms before the meeting and said that the medical students should help in making a healthy society. As the College completed 58 years, Collector said that the campus should be made a beautiful one and every department will be developed according to the Medical Council of India Norms.

The de-addiction centre in Ruia Hospital should be made functional immediately by recruiting the required staff on out sourcing, he said. College Development Society has approved Rs.25 lakhs for the development of internal roads and Rs.16 lakhs for construction of PG Men’s hostel. Collector asked to give service contract to organise bio metric attendance for students and faculty of the medical college.

Students have asked for security in the college, RO water in hostels, Gym facility, Projector in class rooms and mike system. All were approved by the Collector immediately and he asked the students to enlighten the villagers during their visits about the importance of constructing individual household toilets. In the district still four lakh families have no toilets, he said. College Principal Dr NV Ramanaiah, RMO Dr U Sri Hari, and faculty were present.
