Visakhapatnam: For the first time in its 50-year history, the Visakha Valley School Parents’ Association was formed. As a part of the first step, some of the parents formed an Ad-hoc Committee which would in turn take up a lead role to elect a full-time governing body to the association.
The Visakha Valley School was set up in 1967 ini 33.3 acres by the then District Collector Abid Hussain. The Visakha Valley School is one of the best educational institutions in both state.
The school affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi, is one of the premier co-educational English Medium Schools with classes from LKG to XII with commerce and science streams in Plus 2.
The District Collector of Visakhapatnam is the chairman of the school and several key officials, including Joint Collector, Commissioner of GVMC, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, Chairman VPT and DEO are the members.
Announcing the setting up of the Ad-hoc Committee of the Visakha Valley School Parents Association here on Tuesday, one of the parents and noted advocate in the city Venkat Jayakrishna Patnaik said that the association would coordinate with the management for a bright future of the institution.
At present with a group of parents, the Ad-hoc Committee was set up and a full-time body would be elected after informing all the parents of the students, he added. According to the CBSE rules and Right To Education Act-2009, there should be a Parents Association in the school. However, all these decades, there was no Parents Committee in the school.
“We have submitted a letter to the District Collector informing him about the formation of Ad-hoc Committee. On behalf of Collector, District Revenue Officer received our letter and informed us that he would send the letter to the principal of the school. We met the principal and also informed about the setting up of the Ad-hoc Committee.
In 2016, the then the District Collector and Chairman of the school N Yuvraj directed the management to set up a Parents Committee,” Venkat Jayakrishna said. Adhoc Committee members Arun Kumar, L Srinivasa Rao and D Sireesha were present. He informed that the parents who wish to take membership of the association can call on 8367771939 and also send an-e-mail to mail to [email protected]
