Tirupati: The main objective of Stand Up India programme is to make SC and STs in the district as successful industrialists by providing huge amounts as loans to them to establish various units, said District Collector PS Pradyumna.

Speaking at the Stand Up India programme held at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium at SP Mahila Visvavidyalayam on Wednesday, he said that it was decided to provide loans ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 2 crore to 1,200 SC and ST beneficiaries in the district through the 593 bank branches.

Each bank branch must give loan to one SC and one ST beneficiary. It will make them to grow as industrialist and pull them out of poverty, he said and added by establishing their own unit they need not work under somebody else, instead they would be in a position to give employment to some others.

Collector Pradyumna advised the beneficiaries, to work hard and should reach financially higher position. Bankers have provided Rs 50 crore worth of assets like Innovas and other vehicles to 400 SC and ST beneficiaries on Wednesday.

The remaining 800 beneficiaries will get loans before December 2017, he said. He also appealed to bankers to provide subsidy loans to 20,000 beneficiaries through, SC, ST, BC, Minority and Kapu Corporations.

He said the district is at the top position by distributing assets worth Rs 50 crore on a single day under Stand Up India. Here after, on 25 of every month will be observed as Stand Up Day in the district and assets will be distributed to the beneficiaries, he said.

Tirupati MLA M Suguna and TUDA Chairman G Narasimha Yadav has lauded the efforts of the Collector in keeping the district at top position in Stand-up India initiative.

District Industries General Manager M Anil Kumar Reddy, NABARD Manager Prasanth, Lead Bank Manager Rammohan Rao, Andhra Bank DGM Chalapathi Rao, Zonal Manager of Indian Bank Lakshmi Narayana, DRDA PD Ravi Prakash Reddy, DPO Prabhakara Rao, MEPMA PD Jyothi, SC Corporation ED Kanaka Narasa Reddy and other officials were present in the meeting.
