MLA inaugurated Welfare Residential School's Cultural Festivity ‘Tarang’ at Venkatapuram welfare residential school here on Wednesday.

Speaking on this occasion Anantha Lakshmi said it’s been a happy moment that a two day Tarang Festival is being conducted here in this school at Venkatapuram. She said that all the school students need extracurricular activities for all-round development.

She further informed that ‘Tarang’ is conducted for Zone-2 schools which are in East and West Godavari Districts and Krishna District. The District TDP secretary Pilli Sathi Babu said that these Welfare Residential Schools were started in the year 1984 by the then Chief Minister NT Rama Rao.

District Welfare Residential School Coordinating Officer Rama Maheshwari informed that 400 school students have participated from 29 welfare schools. She further informed that competitions for the students were held in eight events like light music, mono action, folk dance, classical dance, western dance and mimicry.

She further told that the teachers from Government Music College will judge the competitions. Residential School Principal Lalitha Kumari, Vice MPP K Gopala Krishna, teaching and non-teaching staff and students have participated.
