Guntur: “For ensuring minimum support price and against the forceful land grabbing, farmers affiliated to 210 unions will stage a three-day protest rally from November 20-22 in New Delhi,” said Dr. Kolla Rajamohan, convenor of Rythanga Rakshana Vedika here on Wednesday. He was addressing a press conference on the sidelines of a meeting of all farmer organisations.

He said that the State government intentionally lowered the price of chillies in the country with the launching of e-nam, but the government has to fix and pay the minimum support price. Only the government organisations should buy from the chilly farmers, he added.

He said that even though there was plenty of water in the Nagarjunasagar and Andhra Pradesh has the right over 136 TMCs of water, still the government has not announced the details of the water released for Rabi season, he added.

Time and again, the government was neglecting the demand that there should be god quality equipment to improve the standard of the produce in every agricultural market committee along with conducting of awareness camps to the farmers.

The leaders of the Farmers Union said that Andhra Pradesh Government should buy the cotton at the price as it was announced as the minimum support price of Rs.7.700, but the Cotton Corporation of India Limited is buying at the price of only Rs.4.300.

Hence, the State government should pay the balance amount as the subsidy along with stabilisation of the prices. Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao, former Minister, Kolanukonda Sivaji of Delta parirakshana samithi, TSivayya, Raitu Kooli Sangham, Jonnalagadda Rama Rao, author of the book `Farmers and their seeds’ and others were present on the occasion.
