India, Spain to exchange Sanskrit scholars
The first-round table of Sanskrit, under the patronage of Embassy of India, Madrid has expressed its desire to expand contacts between Sanskrit scholars of India and Spain. It has committed towards enhancing dialogue between the scholars of Sanskrit and Indo-European languages in India and Spain.

Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetham (RSVP) Vice Chancellor Prof V Muralidhara Sharma visited Spain as part of four-member delegation nominated by Sahitya Akademi to participate in the round table there. It was held in three cities in Spain–Madrid, Tenerife and Valladolid from October 18-20.
Speaking to media here on Wednesday, Prof Muralidhara Sharma explained the salient features of his visit to Spain. He said the first-round table on Sanskrit provided an opportunity for exchange of views and perspectives among scholars of Sanskrit from the two countries.
It affirmed the rich traditions and modern relevance of Sanskrit for enriching the lives of people through literature, art, religion, science and in promoting a world view characterised by harmony, common welfare and inclusiveness.
The round table also recognised the excellent relations between India and Spain and the potential to further intensifying contacts between scholars of Sanskrit and academic communities in general. Also, the document of the First Round Table be issued in Sanskrit, the V-C disclosed.
During the round table, the V-C made an impressive presentation on Spoken Sanskrit. Its form, importance and the contribution of spoken Sanskrit movement in the contemporary propagation of Sanskrit in India and abroad at University of Complutense in Madrid.
