Amaravati: Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister K E Krishna Murthy and Transport and BC Welfare Minister K Atchannaidu came down heavily on YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy saying that he has no moral right to talk about Backward Castes (BCs).

They said Jagan was now trying to woo BCs only to secure their support in the next Assembly elections. Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Wednesday, Krishna Murthy asked the Opposition leader why he failed to speak about the BCs during the last three years. He said BCs have been supporting the TDP right from its inception and they voted for the party in the recent Nandyal and Kakinada elections.

He said the YSRCP president has already lost the confidence of all sections of people and is now making desperate attempts to woo the BCs. Krishna Murthy wondered how Jagan who is the prime accused in 12 corruption cases could speak about corruption. He alleged that Jagan’s Padayatra is intended to delay the process of inquiry into his cases.

He said the Opposition leader failed to accept facts even after the people had taught him befitting lessons in the Nandyal byelection and Kakinada municipal elections. “BCs in the State have identified the Telugu Desam Party as their own party. Jagan cannot separate the BCs from the TDP,” he said. Atchannaidu said that BC community was like a foundation to Telugu Desam Party right from the beginning and it was the only party which had been making efforts for the welfare and uplift of weaker sections.

He also challenged Jaganmohan Reddy to come for an open debate on what was done to BCs during the stint of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as the Chief Minister. “BCs were suppressed by the Rajasekhara Reddy government,” he said. He also said that development of the State in all sectors would be possible only through the Telugu Desam Party.
