Vijayawada: Appreciating the role of rural medical practitioners (RMPs) in delivering health services in villages, minister for medical and health Kamineni Srinivas said they would be given a one-year training and certificates would be issued. He was participating in a meeting of RMPs doctors in the University of Health Sciences here on Wednesday.

The minister said he would hold a meeting with the RMPs in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on November 2 and the decisions taken in today’s meeting would be announced on that day. Srinivas promised to hold a meeting with RMPs to chalk out plans for training and certificates after the meeting with the Chief Minister.

He said it was proposed to provide three months training in clinics, three months in hospitals, and another three months in the field before the government conducting a test and issuing certificates to those who passed it. MLC T Janardhan and Swachhandhra Mission vice-chairman C L Venkata Rao were among those participated in the programme.
