MLA feted for fulfilling election promise
Residents of the town on Wednesday felicitated local MLA BV Jayanageswara Reddy as the latter was successful in getting a summer storage tank sanctioned to the town to tide over the drinking water crisis.Â

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said the long-cherished dream of his father and former MLA BV Mohan Reddy will get fulfilled with the intervention of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, whom the MLA compared to Bhagiratha.
The MLA thanked Chandrababu Naidu and the then Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu who was later elevated to the post of Vice-President, for sanctioning the storage tank. He recalled that he had taken the issue of summer storage tank, a promise he made to the electorate of Yemmiganur at the time of the last polls, to be built at a cost of Rs 135 crore, to the notice of the chief minister on more than one occasion.
Earlier, Public Health Department Superintending Engineer Srinath Reddy explained the design and capacity of proposed summer storage tank sanctioned under non-AMRUT Scheme of Centre, to the people of the town at a meeting held here in the presence of the MLA. The engineer said that a plan has been formulated to quench the thirst of Nandavaram and Gonegandla mandals.
