Nellore: MLC Vithapu Balasubrahmanyam said the managements of private educational institutions who were responsible for suicides of the students and demanded the State government to act against them.

Demanding a probe into the suicides of students across the state, Student JAC leaders staged a relay hunger strike in front of the Collectorate here on Wednesday.

They shouted slogans against the government and demanded removal of HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. Speaking to media persons, MLC Balasubrahmanyam said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, HRD Minister G Srinivasa Rao and other ministers and even legislators in the opposition were not responding on the suicides of students across the state.

He also demanded the State government to implement recommendation of Chakrapani Committee report for private educational institutions. The MLC also asked the managements to conduct classes between 9 am and 6 pm. He also demanded the government to close 22 hostels attached to the corporate colleges.

“Though private managements have been collecting huge fee from the parents, but they are pitiably handing over dead bodies to their parents who anticipate wellbeing and good education in these institutions,” said the MLC. SFI leaders MV Ramana, Nanda Kiran, AISF leader Madhu participated in the relay hunger strike. CPM leaders Hussainbi, DYFI district secretary U Prasad were present.
