It is the only premier research centre established in the government college across the state which received national and international recognition. University Grants Commission (UGC), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)-BRNS so far funded an amount of Rs 35 lakh to the research centre.

Meanwhile, CGNSRC research is under progress on signle crystals for 'second harmonic generation' properties for various optical applications like laser technology, electro-optic devices and detector devices etc.

CGNSRC having MOU and collaborations with research and development laboratories such as RRCAT Indore, BARC Mumbai, NPL New Delhi and recently collaborated with Conn Centre for Renewable Energy Research University of KY-USA.

Students of Adikavi Nannaya University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University- Kakinada (JNTUK) and Andhra University are eligible for adimission into the centre.
