Visakhapatnam: Joint secretary in the Ministry of Steel Ruchika Chaudhry Govil asked the management of RINL to take advantage of government upcoming projects of national highways, expansion of railways and other infrastructure projects.

The joint secretay arrived here on a maiden visit to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant of RINL and held discussions with the top management led by P Madhusudan, CMD, on the development of the Steel Plant on Wednesday.

The other officials from the Ministry of Steel, who accompanied the Joint Secretary include Pramodita Sathish, Economic Adviser, Pally Kundu, Deputy Director General, and Neeraj Agrawal, Director.

The CMD gave an overview of the performance, completion of expansion and modernisation of existing units and the challenges before the company during the year. He said that several measures are being taken by the Ministry of Steel and various internal initiatives led to the improvement of performance.

The team members witnessed a presentation given by Corporate Strategic Management Department of RINL, highlighting the historical perspective of the plant, production facilities, performance and achievements of the plant.

After witnessing the presentation, Ruchika Chaudhry advised RINL to take advantage of the huge infrastructure funding by the ministry in the construction of National Highways, railways, housing for increasing the consumption of steel in the country. She said that RINL should penetrate the market by establishing its brand image prominently across the country and should play a vital role as a steel producer.

She commended RINL for its greenery, environmental protection measures and green initiatives in energy consumption. She also said that employees should be given further training to enhance the skill levels to increase efficiencies in operations. The joint secretary and others planted saplings at the Dedication Park and visited Coke Ovens, Blast Furnace-3 and Wire Rod Mill-2 .

They visited the Steel Museum and were highly impressed at the replica of various production units exhibited in the museum. They also went around the Skill Development Centre at Technical Training Institute and interacted with the trainees.

Ruchika Chaudhry will visit Arunodaya Special School and interact with the special children and also meet the representatives of Steel Executive Association, Unions, SC and ST Association and Women In Public Service on Thursday before leaving for Delhi.
