Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara University authorities are chalking out plans to implement the digital payment method for all varsity examination fee payments. Presently the university is collecting fees through old manual chalan system through State Bank of India and Andhra Bank campus branches.

Every day lakhs of rupees transactions are going on in the campus bank branches and students also suffering from the old conventional practice of chalan system. Due to this, the students have been spending valuable time standing hours together in front of bank counters. Many graduates, PGs and PhDs, MPhil students are waiting in queue at the bank for paying the examination fees.

Though the internet banking facility is available, the university has not accepting it for paying the examinations fee. Thanks to Government of India initiation in implementing digital payments and advice from the UGC and AP Higher Education Council, the SVU authorities were working out a plan to implement digital payments for examination fee.

More than 450 affiliated colleges were working under the SV University across Chittoor district. Two days ago, VC Damodaram has conducted a meeting with all the college principals and heads of the departments and university officials on digital payments.

Every month different types of fees remitted in varsity account by the students amounting to the tune of Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh. During examination time, it was more than Rs one crore. For effective implementation of digital payments in the university, the officials had entered an MoU with one Hyderabad-based software company.

All the affiliated colleges were also instructed to adopt the software on how to implement the digital payments in examination fee. The Hyderabad-based software company created e-chalan system and other digital modes for the university needs. By this payment method, the affiliated college student did not come to university bank branches for paying examination fees.

The affiliated college managements can pay bulk fees amount through online digital payment and can upload applications through online. Due to this new digital payment method, the valuable time of students and college managements can be saved.

Speaking on digital payment mode, SV University VC A Damodaram said “this is very convenient for students and colleges managements. We are trying to save the valuable time and manpower in paying fees to varsity. There is no need for students to come to campus for paying examination fees and they can use this time for concentrating on studies.”
