Kadapa: Yogi Vemana University (YVU) Vice Chancellor A Ramachandra Reddy on Thursday said that the varsity had spent Rs 3.67 crore for providing infrastructure facilities and other development works against release of Rs 5 crore under the Rashtriya Uchachatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the VC said that the remaining amount Rs 1.32 crore would be spent in a phased manner on various works.

In total Rs 20 crore were sanctioned for YVU under RUSA for this year, he said and added the State government has released Rs 31 crore against sanction of total Rs 75 crore for YVU development. He said the varsity administration had already represented the issue with the chief minister recently. The VC hoped that remaining funds would be released soon.

Answering a question over illegal occupation of varsity lands, he said as per official records, the administration has handed over 649 acres in Rampathadu, Ganganapalle, Thippi Reddypalle villages in Pendlimarri mandal against total allocation of 11,030 acres for YVU.

Following directions of chief minister over WiFi, internet connection has been provided in 160 points under the purview of university, the VC said and added Science Congress is going to be held in varsity in November 2018 as the State government has officially informed the matter to the office. Registrar K Chandraiah was present.
