Guntur: The district administration will arrange 11 cotton purchase centres and a quantity of 10 quintals per acre will be purchased with a minimum support price of Rs 4,320 from the first week of November, said Kona Sasidhar, District Collector. He was addressing a media conference here on Thursday after participating in the Zilla Parishad general body meeting with a few selected departments.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said that the water levels in Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar were higher than expected and a report with the complete details of water requirements of the district would be submitted in the Krishna River Water Board meeting which would be held on November 28. Water for drinking and irrigation purposes would be released according to the resolutions taken in the board meeting, the District Collector explained.

Collector Sasidhar informed that the minor problems in the school bio-metric system would be resolved soon and the Civil Supplies Department was instructed to provide quality rice to midday meal scheme in the schools, he informed. The district administration would extend all possible help to safeguard the assets of the Zilla Parishad and public health would be given top priority, he added.

Elaborating on the pension schemes being implemented in the district, Sasidhar said that the NTR pension scheme was a great success and under the DRDA, the enrolment of names under the Chandranna Bhima Scheme was very popular with the masses. And the amount now being paid was Rs.2 lakhs as against the earlier sum of Rs.30,000 and the change in the amount was being popularised in the district, he explained.

The district administration has been taking utmost care to prevent the student’s suicides and at the same time, parents also have to be cautious about the children he suggested. Zilla Parisahd chairman Johnny Moon, Guntur MP Galla Jayadev, Guntur, MLCs A S Ramakrishna, B Nageswara Rao, A Satish Prabhakar, A Satyaprasad, MLA,Repalle, V Purnachandra Rao, ZP Vice-chairman, ZP CEO V Nagarjunasagar and others were present.
