Tirupati: The Hyderabad high court on Thursday directed the SVU authorities to submit all documents and details regarding wind up of LLB course before the court and postposed it to October 30. The wind up of 5-year law (LLB) course in SV University campus has reached the Hyderabad high after SVU officials wrote a letter to AP State Higher Education Council not to include the varsity in LAWCET admissions list.

They intimated that the course has no Bar Council of India (BCI) permission and requested the APSHEC not to include SVU in 2017-18 academic year admissions. Due to this decision, the students will lose 60 seats in LLB course.

Challenging the issue, SVU law students Vijaya Kumar and Abhishek Reddy have filed a petition in Hyderabad high court. In the petition, the students claimed the officials’ inefficiency is main cause for not getting permission from the BCI.

The students also furnished the supporting details that SVU is government varsity offering LLB in Rayalaseema. They alleged the varsity authorities are taking steps in favour of private colleges and showing some flimsy reasons to continue the LLB in campus. They said that due to wind up of LLB, the varsity authorities forcibly encouraging students to join in private law colleges.

They have also mentioned that few private affiliated colleges are running LLB without BCI approval. After filing petition in the court, a few days ago the students staged a dharna on the varsity campus exposing the officials’ failure in getting BCI nod for LLB. While arguing, the defence counsel said that providing of minimum amenities to law students is the primary responsibility of varsity officials.

The court, after hearing the arguments from sides, directed the SVU authorities to submit all documents and details regarding LLB course before the court and postposed it to October 30.
