Two Lankan nationals arrested
On a tip-off, the customs officials caught two Sri Lankan nationals who arrived here on Thursday at the airport from Colombo. According to an official release, both were identified as Shareefdeen Mohamed Mahroof and Hazara Umma Jeinul Abdeen.
Visakhapatnam: On a tip-off, the customs officials caught two Sri Lankan nationals who arrived here on Thursday at the airport from Colombo. According to an official release, both were identified as Shareefdeen Mohamed Mahroof and Hazara Umma Jeinul Abdeen. The customs officials found that both of them are frequent travellers and found similar gold smuggling case at Hyderabad airport.
The customs officers interrogated Mahroof and the accused confessed to his crime. He informed the officials that he swallowed two pieces of gold.
The accused was admitted to the KGH to extract gold under medical supervision. Meanwhile, in another incident, the officials caught Hazara Umma Jeinul Abdeen for smuggling gold.
During the interrogation, the accused admitted that he swallowed 88 gms of gold. The officials also admitted the accused to the KGH. Further investigation is on.
