Speaking at an awareness programme on breast cancer organised by the Leader People Services, an NGO, in Anakapalle on Thursday, Gowthami said that healthy food, timely sleep and daily physical exercises would play a key role in curing cancer. Cancer patients should reduce intake of salt, sugar and stay away from junk food, she advised.

Later addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Gowthami said that as a part of its series of programmes to create awareness among the people on the breast cancer, the LAF organising a ‘Winners Walk’ on the Beach Front on October 28. Tollywood star and MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna will take part in the walk.

Hyderabad-based Indo-American Cancer Hospital set new standards of care for cancer patients and serves the needy with passion and compassion. There are many people and organisations came forward to work towards this cause with commitment and dedication, she added.

“Doctors, nurses, caregivers play a vital role in one's fight against cancer but the most important is self-confidence. No one can give us strength to fight, if we cannot find it within, we should draw inspiration from those who fought against cancer and won it. Let us all join to create awareness about breast cancer,” Gowthami said. The Winners Walk will start at Kalimatha temple and concludes at YMCA, she added.
