Anti Corruption Bureau conducts raids on temple Executive Officer

Bhimavaram: Following the corruption charges levelled against the In-charge Executive Officer Nallam Surya Chakradhara Rao, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths raided on the Goddess Sri Mavullamma Devasthanam office in Bhimavaram town on Friday.

The ACB has received complaints stating that Nallam Surya Chakradhara Rao, the In-charge E O of Goddess Mavullamma Temple indulged in corrupt practices. The ACB DSP Gopalakrishna and CI Srinivas and his team reached Bhimavaram and went to the Executive Officer’s office of the temple. They inspected the files in the office.

The present Executive officer, who was an Administrative officer, is acting as In-charge Executive officer of the temple over six years. In these years, he used the presentations given to the temple and Goddess for his own. He used the saris presented by devotees, Laddu Prasadams and Goddess photos for his use during his daughter’s marriage.

He also takes bribes from a contractor for the construction of a shopping complex on Devasthanam premises. All these were mentioned in the complaint, the DSP said. On these allegations, the ACB raided on the office the EO and thoroughly checked the files, he said. The EO has performed his daughter’s marriage by spending Rs.6 crores.

Even while distributing the Wedding Cards of his daughter, the EO presented saris that were presented to Goddess by the devotees. He also gave temple Prasadams and the photos of the Goddess. At the time of ACB raid, the Executive Officer was not present. The DSP Gopala Krishna said a case has been registered and if all the allegations found true, action will be initiated against the EO.
