New Delhi: A Supreme Court bench on Friday dismissed the AP government's memo seeking to accommodate Fatima College students nine each in 11 medical colleges of the state to render justice to them dashing the hopes of victim students who lost their admissions due to derecognition of the 2015-16 batch of the college.

The bench consisting of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Navin Sinha observed how could it order increase in the seats this year just to accommodate the students and how to decrease the same the next year.

Senior counsel for the AP government Gourav Benerjee argued that the state government had proposed the same in the interest of the students and their future.

By increasing the seats, there would be no problem as it would not affect the merit list. Regular intake could be continued from next year onwards, he argued defending the proposal.

The bench declared that it would not like to interfere in the issue and it had examined the proposals of the MCI as well as of the AP government.
