Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police B Satya Yesubabu said that one R Bhaskar Reddy who served as a home guard with the department for five years was removed from services in the year 2009. He along with one Sunnamsetty Krishnamurthy cheated women and old aged people who did not know how to withdraw money from the ATM.

While offering to help them, they noted down the PIN number and swapped the debit card of the person with another fake card available with them. When the people left the ATM center, they immediately withdrew the balance amount. If the daily limit exceeds, they transferred the remaining amount to one of their an accounts or purchased gold with the debit card.

SP Yesubabu said that Bhaskar Reddy and Krishnamurthy were caught and sent to jail earlier and released in 2015. In 2016, they formed a gang along with Nanduri Venkatesh and Akula Harinath and were involved in around 70 crimes in South India.

The Superintendent of Police lauded the efforts of Addanki Circle Inspector of Police Hyma Rao, Sub-Inspector of Police Subbaraju, Santamaguluru Sub-inspector Nagaraju, constables M Koteswara Rao, U Koteswara Rao and gave away rewards to them.
