Matka racket busted, 6 held

Kurnool (Adoni): The Adoni police intensified raids on Matka dens on Friday and seized huge amount of Rs27 lakh along with 30 tolas of gold and matka slips from a house.
Speaking to media, Adoni Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Y Ankiveedu Prasad said that in view to make Adoni, matka-free town, the raids have been intensified on the second day of Friday.
Circle Inspector Shiva Shankar and his team has raided at a house of matka don Mohammed Taj and seized Rs 27 lakh along with 30 tolas of gold and matka slips. Out of total amount, Rs 12 lakh was collected towards matka and the remaining Rs 15 lakh and 30 tolas was an unaccounted one.
No bills or other documental proof was produced to the amount and gold, he said and added the unaccounted cash and gold would be handed over to Income Tax department officials after due panchanama.
Apart from Mohammed Taj, five more persons were taken into custody. Sub Inspector Rangaiah, Crime police personnel Elisha, Sathya Raj assisted the CI Shiva Shankar during raids on matka dens. The DSP said more raids are likely to be conducted in the coming days.
