Vijayawada: Minister for Medical and Health Kamineni Srinivas said that the government will take steps to render super specialty services at the Government General Hospital here at a cost of Rs 150 crore soon to render better services to the patients.

He inaugurated free chapathi distribution centre set up by the Vasavi Annapurna Seva Samithi at the GGH. Speaking on the occasion, he said that so far the government had spent Rs 68 crore for the development of GGH and urged the doctors to render medical services with commitment as the poor patients will come to the government hospitals for treatment.

He said that the aim of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is to render better services in the government hospitals in the state, hence, the government is improving the facilities in the government hospitals.

He has undergone knee replacement surgery at the GGH in Guntur city and urged the people’s representatives to get admitted to the government hospitals for treatment to create confidence in the government hospitals.

He said during the past three years he visited the GGH at Vijayawada 30 times. The government will distribute tabs to the MBBS first year students in the state and provide bus facility within two weeks.

He further stated that AIIMS Medical College will start from the next academic from the campus. In order to get changes in the medical education system, he will conduct a meeting under the aegis of the Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu very soon.

Earlier, Kamineni Srinivas inaugurated residents hostel building constructed at a cost of Rs 5-crore on the GGH premises. MLA Gadde Ram Mohan, Siddartha Government Medical College Principal Dr Sashank, Vasavi Annapurna Seva Samithi president GDV Prasada Rao were among those participated in the meeting.
