Create awareness on use of individual toilets

Vijayawada: Collector B Lakshmikantham on Saturday directed the officials to prepare an action plan to create awareness among the people in rural areas on use of individual toilets and prevention of open defecation.

The collector conducted a meeting with the officials of education, RWS, medical and health, District Water Management Agency and other departments at the Camp office. He asked the Rural Water Supply (RWS) officials to furnish the details of 1.84 lakh individual toilets built in the district to the Education department.

He said students studying from Class IX to graduation can be formed as teams to educate people on the importance of using individual toilets and total eradication of open defecation. He said each team consists of five students and these teams will take responsibility of educating 15 to 20 families. He said the government is giving top priority for Swachh Andhra Pradesh and asked the officials of medical and health, RWS, education and other departments to take active part in achieving the goal.
