Hyderabad: Police on Saturday registered a complaint against former TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao for allegedly threatening a woman, named Sujatha Ramakrishnan .

The Jubilee Hills police said the woman, in her complaint, alleged that Rao had an affair with a former Karnataka legislator and for questioning him over the issue, the former MP threatened to make public her private pictures.

The police have registered a case against Rao under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of IPC.

Meanwhile, Rao filed a counter complaint with the Jubilee Hills police that the woman was not known to him. He alleged that she was blackmailing him.

Sujatha said, in her complaint, that she knew Rao since 2013 and he was a regular visitor to her house. She came to know that he was facing allegations of cheating a former MLC from Karnataka by promising to marry her. When she started questioning him in May this year, Rao threatened to release her private pictures, she said.

The complainant told the police that Rao’s brother had also threatened her. She had in fact produced video clip to hammer her charge home her charge that Rao’s brother had assaulted her.

She claimed to have spoken to the former MLC and the latter said she had approached a court in Delhi, seeking justice.

In fact, Sujatha lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police in July. But the police had not registered the case. She had obtained a court directive to the police to register her complaint and investigate.
