Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy expressed anger over industries that were failing to provide employment to locals.

He participated in a programme along with Industries Minister Amaranatha Reddy at Golden Jubilee hall here on Saturday and said industrial organisations have to adhere to the assurances like employment and other mandates after setting up their units.

The Minister found fault with industries for filling up only unskilled posts from the district. He also criticised that why they were not preferring technical staff members from the district rather selecting them from other states. He said it is the responsibility of the industrial units to declare employment data along with
productivity details.

The Minister directed the District Collector to collect data of employees, who were hired from the district by various industrial units. Amaranatha Reddy said industries have to treat it as a moral responsibility to provide employment for local people.

He asked the details of jobs given to people from district in organisations like Gamesa, IFFCO, and others. He also said that they had allocated huge lands to the industrial organisations for setting up units and also for residential purpose and they have to provide employment to the people, who handed over the lands for industrial growth. He lamented that some lands allocated were vacant and he said many industries in Nellore and Chittoor are coming up shortly.

Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana suggested to convert local jobless as technically skilled personnel through training and asked the district administration to chalk out a plan. Tirupati MP Dr Varaprasada Rao, MLAs P S Reddy, P Sunil Kumar, K Ramakrishna, K Sanjeevaiah, MLC B Ravichandra, Collector R Mutyala Raju, Joint Collector A Md Imtiaz, and senior officials were present. Further, Ministers Somireddy and Narayana also participated in a seminar on diabetes and also handed over tractors to farmers under Rythu Ratham programme.
