Left party MPs tour affected villages


Srikakulam: The CPM and CPI MPs toured the affected villages of Vamsadhara project in the district on Saturday. They charged that the state government is harassing Vamsadhara project displaced and assured to raise the issue in Parliament session.

CPI Rajya Sabha MP D Raja, CPM Lok Sabha MP M Sampath toured Tulagam, Padali and Duggupuram villages in Hiramandal mandal on Saturday, along with the CPI and CPM leaders Ch Tejeswara Rao, Ch Sunderlal, JVV Satyannarayana, Ch Venkata Ramana, Ch Narasinga Rao and B Krishnamurthy. Upon their arrival at Tulagam village, the affected people explained their plight to the leaders. They explained how the officials are disrupting power supply, preventing gas distribution in their village.

Padali and Duggupuram villagers complained that they are being received warnings from the officials for eviction.

They alleged that most of the affected people yet to get compensation. They also charged that the land acquisition officials are relying on local brokers, who are belonging to ruling TDP, and the officials are clearing payments for those persons who are being recommended by these

After hearing their problems, the CPI and CPM MPs cried foul over indifferent attitude of the state government towards displaced.
