With only a couple of months left for yet another big religious event of Vaikunta Ekadasi, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam officials are chalking out plans for this event scheduled to be held on December 29. This year, Vaikunta Ekadasi will come just two days before January 1, 2018 and officials are predicting huge influx of devotees to Tirumala on Ekadasi and Dwadasi.

Tirumala: With only a couple of months left for yet another big religious event of Vaikunta Ekadasi, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam officials are chalking out plans for this event scheduled to be held on December 29. This year, Vaikunta Ekadasi will come just two days before January 1, 2018 and officials are predicting huge influx of devotees to Tirumala on Ekadasi and Dwadasi.

They are expecting 2 lakh devotees will offer prayers to Srivaru on Ekadasi and Dwadasi days. TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal has instructed the officials to make elaborate arrangements for multitude of visiting pilgrims, to provide hassle-free Vaikunta Dwara Darshan.

The officials want to provide Vaikunta Ekadasi Dwara Darshan to devotees with more comfort. They are planning to construct barricades for queue lines at Narayanagiri Gardens opposite VQC 2, Medara Mitta, New Seva Sadanam, Kalyana Vedika and Outer Ring Road. To engage waiting pilgrims in religious atmosphere in the compartments, which will be set up for Ekadasi darshan at Narayanagiri Gardens, the TTD will be organising Satya Sai and ISKCON Bhajans.

This year too, the TTD has set up a high-level committee to monitor the facilities providing to pilgrims, who come for Tirumala on Vaikunta Ekadasi day. The officials want to provide facilities to pilgrims like food, water, sanitation, medical services in Narayanagiri Garden compartments. Over four lakh water packets and one lakh butter milk sachets, food items like Pongal, Upma, Sambar Annam, Perugu Annam for two lakh devotees will be kept available this year also, said one of the senior officials of the TTD catering department.

In the last Vaikunta Ekadasi, the officials had set up 54 compartments in Vaikuntam 1 and 2 and constructed 16 more compartments in Narayanagiri Gardens to accommodate additional 16,000 pilgrims. Recently, the TTD is developing parking slots at Outer Ring Road, Srivari Sevasadan area and at Kalyanavedika.

This year, compartments number will be increased from 54 to 70. The officials are planning to issue VIP protocol passes and allow only five members of a family for darshan. In case of officers, one plus three will be issued as per the existing temple darshan guidelines. The TTD officials will issue 8,000 VIP passes for Vaikunta Ekadasi this year and no privilege darshan will be entertained. “Our motto is to provide Vaikunta Dwara Darshan to pilgrims on the same day itself with less waiting time,” said a senior official.
