Srisailam: The Srisaila temple devasthanam has made elaborate arrangements for conduct of Laksha Deepotsavam celebrations at the temple pond on Monday.
In all, 100 staff members of temple were deployed near the temple to arrange the lamps. The significance of Deepotsavam in the auspicious Telugu month of Kartikam is very high. According to mythological texts, those who have lit a lamp or witnessed lamps will attain salvation from the birth-death cycle.
Besides the Deepotsavam, aarti service to temple pond will be performed on Monday. There are nine types of artis. Special pujas are on the cards on the occasion. The kinds of arti services are: Omkara harati, Nagaharati, Trishula Harati, Nandi Harati, Simha Harati, Surya Harati, Chandra Harati, Kumbha Harati and Nakshatra Harati.
On Monday, Gopavaram Ramachandra Rao and party will present Taala Vaadya concert near the temple devasthanam. On Sunday, Bhakti Sangeeta Vibhavari by cine playback artiste Pavan and party was conducted at the temple. On account of heavy rush of devotees at the temple to mark Kartika Pournami, Arjita Seva Abhishekam service has been suspended on November 3 and 4.
On Sunday, the second in the holy Kartika masam, a large number of devotees thronged the temple. Anticipating heavy rush, the temple authorities have made elaborate arrangements and changed the temple timings. The temple opens at 2.30 am for Suprabhata service. A large number of devotees took a holy dip in Patala Ganga near the temple.
