Visakhapatnam: The officials of Board of Intermediate Education conducted raids on several private junior collages on Sunday and found two colleges were running classes even on holiday which was objected by the government.

Interestingly, in a meeting held on Saturday, the officials warned these two colleges not to conduct classes on Sunday and public holidays. Even the managements of Bhashyam and NRI Junior Colleges conducted classes without declaring holiday on Sunday.

Speaking to the media, Regional Inspection Officer BIE T Nagesh said that according to Commissioner of BIE B Udayalaxmi, the district committee members went to check Bhashyam Junior College at Naiduthota and found the students were attending classes.

The Bhashyam Junior College is maintaining hostel without taking permission. The school and college were being run in the same building and it is the violation of rules, Nagesh said.

It is learnt that both the institutions are not conducting practicals. The board is issuing notices to the colleges. Penalty of Rs 10 lakh would be levied on Bhashyam, the RIO said.

Later, the committee inspected NRI College at China Musidiwada and found that the students writing examination in the college. The officials have found that there were no proper laboratories in the college and decided to cancel the examination centre and levied Rs 3 lakh penalty on NRI college.

TNSF raids corporate colleges

Telugunadu Students Federation, an affiliated wing of Telugu Desam Party, conducted raids on corporate colleges here and questioned the management for conducting classes even on Sunday.

District president of TNSF V Chaitanya Babu and others visited Sri Chaitanya College at Thotapalem and Gayatri College at Gotlam village and told the management to close the institutions on Sunday and public holidays.

Later, all the students were allowed to go to their homes from the colleges. They said pressure should not mounted on students and they should be given enough to time spend with their friends and parents.
