Srikakulam: Veteran journalist Duppala Krishna Murthy had spent his entire career for the welfare of journalists, said TDP Srikakulam MLA Gunda Laxmidevi.

She was the chief guest at DK’s 13th death anniversary conducted by DK Charitable Trust general secretary Duppala Ravindra Babu at Garimella Press Club here on Sunday.

DK had worked in Udayam, Andhrabhoomi, Vaartha and maintained a local newspaper ‘Nagavali’ for some time. He had always committed to journalistic ethics, the TDP MLA recalled.

Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) state president Nalli Dharma Rao, special branch DSP Krishnamurthy Naidu, adult education deputy director G Krishna Rao, district public relations officer L Ramesh explained the importance of journalism and how the DK had protected its values.

The best journalists were felicitated by the guests on the occasion. In English newspapers category, The Hans India correspondent Chowdari Lakshmana Rao, from rural areas R Ramalingeswara Rao, M Kesava Rao, K Satyannarayana, SV Ramana, in electronic media category – P Srinubabu, Ch L Ganapati, MVS Sasthry- were felicitated.
