Amaravati: To complete the construction of the ongoing Polavaram Project, the government will follow the legal framework under Engineering and Procurement Contract 60 C, observed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during a review on the project at the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Monday.

As the earth-cum-rock fill dam and cofferdam works should be started in this season, the government decided to maintain status quo with the main company. At the same time, the Chief Minister directed the officials to implement the 60 C provision for other works.

He said that a further decision will be taken on the main contractor of the project in the next Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held shortly. The Chief Minister directed the officials to see that there is no interruption to execution of the project works.

“The government will find solutions to solve the problems raised by the main contractor and will go according to the law,” observed Chandrababu Naidu during the meeting.

On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu stated that the construction of diaphragm wall would be completed soon. He said that L and T and other companies have been completing their targets as per the schedule.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate 10 irrigation projects in the State next month. Out of the 28 targeted projects to be completed by this December, 10 are ready for operation, informed the officials. Kogulla, Errakalva, Kandaleru lift irrigation, Marala, Cherlopalli, Siddapuram, Narsimharaya Sagar, Gorakallu, Avuku Tunnel and Pedapalem projects have been completed, explained the officials.

Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to make arrangements for release of water from all these completed projects in three consecutive days. The Chief Minister expressed anger over the delay in Gandikota Project works. Water will be released from Gundlakamma Vagu very soon, announced Naidu.
