Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy criticised the government for not getting funds from the Union government for Polavaram Project. Speaking to the media persons here on Monday, he asked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to explain on how the project could be completed by 2018.

He wondered why the Chief Minister was criticising the Congress instead of overcoming hurdles in execution of the works. He alleged that the Chief Minister planned to collect commissions from the contractors. The BJP leaders also wanted a share in the commissions, he further alleged.

The government should not enhance the project cost and the State government should not spend funds on the project. He asked the government to give clarity to the public on the progress of Polavaram Project by November 19, otherwise the Congress would stage a protest at the project site.

Raghuveera also criticised Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for taking a decision not to attend Assembly. He said that the Opposition should utilise the Assembly to highlight public issues. APCC official spokesperson Kolanukonda Sivaji, Congress district president D Muralimohana Rao, city president Akula Srinivasa Rao and several leaders were also present.
